GladGirl

US Based Omni-Channel B2B Commerce
LA based B2B ecommerce and omni-channel retailer GladGirl is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of professional eyelash supplies. As a long term, ongoing client, Curata has completed several major projects for GladGirl including 2 re-platforms, initially to Magento in 2015 and then to Shopify Plus in 2020. Over the course of our partnership, Curata has provided ongoing support in almost every aspect of GladGirl’s operations.
In 2015 GladGirl (previosuly Glad Lash) had been experiencing significant growth in its ecommerce sales of professional eyelash extensions supplies, but found itself hamstrung by technolog, namely the Weebly ecommerce platform and lack of integrations with back office and fulfilment systems. This resulted in difficulties scaling the business efficiently as sales grew. The brief for Curata’s frist major project was to migrate away from Weebly and make integrations with third party systems.
In 2020, and prior, new challenges arose as the strategy of the business became focussed on the need to streamline the technology stack and move away from desktop integrations to an “all-cloud” system.
Over the years the need to continually improve the technology and strategy has been driven by pressures on multiple fronts including new competitors entering the market and macro economics.
In 2016 Curata completed our first major project with GladGirl, replatforming from Weebly to Magento 1 which allowed for a modernised, responsive design and host of improvements and customisations such as improved category structure, navigation, search and merchandising.
Integrations were made with an extensive list of third party systems including Shipworks, eBay, USPS and Fedex, Akeneo PIM, Live Chat, Remarkety, MailChimp, Quick Books and others.
Custom work included building a business directory of Lash Technicians (utilising store locator technology) and USPS/Fedex API integrations. The Directory was later rebuilt as a stand alone web application on WordPress. The company’s blog was also built on WordPress.
The solution for our second major project came in the form of Shopify in 2020, which was chosen to simplify the technology and reduce the maintenance overhead of Magento. This project was successfully completed, allowing GladGirl to focus on, and allocate resources to, aspects of the business other than website maintenance.

I can’t say enough good things about Curata. They went above and beyond what was required. They care about your business as much as you do… They came in exactly on budget and have exceeded our expectations. Even though the website has been rebuilt and launched Curata is still a very important part of our business model moving forward. Their team understand project management and they have exactly the right balance of creative and technical knowledge to help many types of businesses… I would highly recommend Curata to any company with a digital presence or looking to have one.
